Using Total Quality Management Tools in the Classroom

"Using TQM in the Classroom" course # CIC-583S This three semester hour graduate workshop focuses on the application of Total Quality Management theory in improving learning experiences for teachers, students, and administrators. The course will:

• Clarify the principles of Quality schools

• Provide tools for any class that wants to improve student learning

• Demonstrate how action research can become a part of any classroom

• Explain the use of specific TQM tools that facilitate problem identification,   evaluation and assessment

• Examine the ways in which these tools can be used with colleaques in   any collaborative improvement effort

• Provide an understanding of self-assessment devices

• Benefit faculty teams school improvement efforts

• Promote student participation , involvement & interest

• Show how students can use TQM tools for self improvement or   improvement of  their group

• Help everyone to become a more successful problem solver and member   of a team
